Cave Of Niaux

Visiting the cave paintings at Grotte de Niaux has been one of the highlights of many of my past trips! We book ahead for an English speaking guide and a small group tour. The trip into the caves takes about 1hr45 and we walk through the unlit caves aided by lanterns. This is the real deal and one of the most memorable and moving experiences of a lifetime. 

Note: The walking is uneven but quite manageable for most people. If you have mobility issues or require a walking stick, you will be wise to sketch or paint and enjoy the spectacular view outside of the cave.
