Paint!

Suggested Watercolour Selection

The paint colours listed are included in my standard palette. Paint should be artists’ quality in tubes. Holbein is my choice - pigment codes are noted for substituting manufacturer.

I use freshly squeezed paint for many of my projects. You may use colour that is already in your palette or squeeze out as you work. (What fun!)

It is essential to know if your colours are transparent, semi transparent or opaque. You will find information about how to test your paints on my website and I have grouped my colours below for your reference.

Bring your favourite colours! You won't need to use the exact colour as I am using for good results.
If you have a basic selection of colours: warm and cool primaries, plus a few of your favourites and one opaque (white will work or any listed below) you will be all set! Students frequently ask about two of my greens - Leaf and Shadow - so you may wish to pick up a small tube of each. I will bring the following:

Leaf Green and Shadow Green from Holbein, are featured in this little plein air painting. I think they are quite lovely and will use them in to paint the spring landscape in France.
